Dogs Diets (Fresh meals, Commercial, Raw)

What is best to feed your dog, not all of us have time to cook fresh food, or look into DIY Raw diets and sourcing ingredients. It really is a true dedication and takes time and planning and a decent sized freezer. Being a vegetarian, when i first started feeding raw and back then was trying more DIY raw, i couldn't touch Chicken Feet, I was too squeamish! I'm not so adventurous now, as I have my little older seniors, so it's been quite a lot of trial and error finding out what works best for them and adapting various different diets for them as necessary! It's not easy when you have a multi-pet household but it's worth it in the long run, knowing they are getting a fresher more species appropriate diet, but i also understand that it's not for everyone.

If you interested in feeding raw for your pet, here is a helpful group to get you started on Facebook called "The Hong Kong Healthy Hounds Group".

Although I'm not 100% opposed to feeding kibble, my gang gets it now and then, more as a meal topper rather than a complete meal. But the old adage says, "You are what you eat." Giving your pet McDonald's every day vs. a well-balanced fresh meal. We are all intelligent enough to know that buying something off the shelf and from a packet is not going to be as healthy as preparing something fresh. If you can't do it every day, at least try at the weekend and slowly introduce a raw chicken foot (I haven't met a dog who hasn't loved chewing on one of those)!

If you can't do it everyday, at least try at the weekend and slowly introduce a raw chicken foot (I haven't met a dog who hasn't loved chewing on one of those) and easy to pick up on Gage Street in Central, even Wellcome stock them in the supermarket, just make sure they are fresh!

Don't be put off trying, honestly if I can do it then so can anyone! It is such a controversial subject, but in the end it's what benefits the dogs.

There are quite a few commercial raw options that you can also consider:

Dr B's Barf Diet

Barkyard on Mosque Street, Mid Levels has a glassdoor freezer with lots of Big Dog Frozen Raw options also if you like to buy in person. https://www.instagram.com/thebarkyard_hk?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==

Whiskas & Paws (Wong Chuk Hang) also has frozen raw options.

If your dog is on a different diet to any of the above, i would love to know about it, or if you've tried any other frozen raw diets, or if there are any other stores that keep it in stock.

Thanks.
